The Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) in Makkah Region handled approximately 122,186 emergency calls during the first quarter of 2026, as part of its ongoing field readiness to deliver high-quality emergency medical services and enhance rapid response across the region’s governorates.
The Authority reported that Makkah recorded 61,868 emergency calls, while Jeddah recorded 46,949 calls, and Taif recorded 13,369 calls, reflecting the scale of field efforts to accommodate population density and continuous movement within the region.
In terms of air ambulance services, a total of 92 cases were recorded, including 44 in Makkah, 34 in Jeddah, and 14 in Taif, indicating strong support for critical cases and the enhancement of rapid medical transport for patients requiring urgent intervention.
Regarding specialized emergency pathways, 221 cardiac cases were handled, including 90 in Makkah, 117 in Jeddah, and 14 in Taif. Meanwhile, 234 stroke cases were recorded, distributed as 99 in Makkah, 106 in Jeddah, and 29 in Taif. These efforts are part of an integrated system aimed at accelerating specialized medical procedures and increasing survival rates.
The Authority emphasized that these figures reflect the integration of efforts between ambulance teams and healthcare entities across the governmental, private, and non-profit sectors, contributing to improved service quality and effective emergency response.
SRCA urged the public to cooperate with ambulance teams by giving way on the roads and requesting emergency services when needed by calling 997 or through the “Asefni” application, reaffirming its ongoing commitment to advancing the emergency medical system in line with the Kingdom’s leadership aspirations to provide the highest level of care for pilgrims and residents alike.
