The Saudi Red Crescent Authority in Makkah Region has raised its readiness to the highest level, coinciding with warnings issued by the National Center for Meteorology regarding heavy rainfall in the region. It has placed all personnel on high alert and mobilized all available resources in the region.
The authority stated that it had activated readiness plans across all emergency medical sectors and increased the readiness of the command and control center and medical dispatch operations to monitor the rainy conditions moment by moment, direct field teams according to the highest operational standards, and ensure rapid access to affected locations.
The authority confirmed that it had strengthened the deployment of emergency medical teams by positioning them at vital support locations within the governorates most affected, including areas near valley channels and highways, points experiencing traffic congestion, and rugged locations, to ensure effective rapid intervention during severe weather.
The authority explained that Makkah Region includes (19) emergency medical sectors, supported by (98) ambulance centers operating around the clock: (24) centers in Taif across four sectors, (36) centers in Jeddah across seven sectors, and (38) centers in the Holy Capital across eight sectors, in addition to field staging and support points covering the governorates affected by the rainy conditions in accordance with operational plans.
The Saudi Red Crescent Authority called on citizens and residents to follow the instructions and warnings of the relevant authorities, avoid flood channels and water accumilation areas, cooperate with ambulance teams by giving way, and refrain from gathering at accident sites.
