Today, EMS teams with the Saudi Red Crescent Authority in Al Madinah Region restored the pulse of a 52-year-old Indian pilgrim after she suffered sudden cardiac and respiratory arrest while near the Baqi Cemetery wall, with a response time of 50 seconds.
The Acting Director General of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority branch in the Madinah Region, Dr. Omar bin Hussein Al-Attas, explained that the rapid arrival of the emergency teams and early intervention, by Allah’s grace, contributed to saving the pilgrim’s life and restoring her pulse. He confirmed that emergency teams in the central area operate around the clock according to operational plans that ensure rapid response and the provision of emergency care to visitors of the Prophet’s Mosque.
The emergency teams attended to the case immediately upon arrival, finding that the pilgrim had suffered cardiac and respiratory arrest. The necessary emergency procedures were applied, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation was initiated until her pulse was restored and her condition initially stabilized.
Dr. Al-Attas added that such cases underscore the importance of promptly reporting emergencies and providing early emergency intervention, both of which play an effective role in increasing survival chances. He praised the readiness and professionalism of the emergency crews in handling critical cases, especially during periods of high visitor and worshipper density.
After her pulse was restored, the pilgrim was transferred to Bab Jebreel Health Center to continue receiving the necessary medical care.
