The Saudi Red Crescent Authority responded to 69,784 emergency calls in Makkah and Madinah during the Umrah season in Ramadan 1447 AH, as part of an integrated system with health-care entities from the private and nonprofit sectors. This contributed to enhancing the efficiency of emergency response and providing advanced emergency services to pilgrims.
The Authority commended the efforts of the healthcare entities participating in the emergency-response system at the Two Holy Mosques, affirming that this integration supported the field readiness of emergency teams and enhanced the speed of handling cases within the Two Holy Mosques and central areas. It noted that these efforts involved several healthcare entities, in addition to a number of health and charitable associations.
The Authority explained that this integration supported emergency teams in the field by providing qualified medical personnel, operating supporting centers and clinics, and participating in the provision of healthcare at high-density locations, reflecting the level of coordination among various healthcare sectors in serving pilgrims.
It highlighted the prominent role of the medical, emergency, and volunteer personnel of the participating entities, who worked with high efficiency throughout the season and contributed to providing continuous emergency services.
The Saudi Red Crescent Authority affirmed that the achievements during the Ramadan season represent a successful model of integration among healthcare sectors that can be utilized and implemented throughout the Kingdom, contributing to enhanced readiness to respond to emergencies and the development of the emergency-services system.
